Robin Barnwell

Lead Consultant at Cognizant and Norwich Admin User Group Leader

Robin has had an interesting career working both in and out of the IT industry. He’s currently working in the Salesforce ecosystem helping customers become successful. This can be anything from analysing businesses, architecting solutions, running projects and writing code. The golden thread being that he always gravitates towards solving the problems that people consider too hard.

Robin got into Salesforce about 4-years ago while working with the Financial Conduct Authority. They looked to Salesforce to help manage some key business processes for the team he was working with. This sparked Robin’s interest and he invested his spare time to get the various certifications. From this he managed to pitch for and win new customers and the chance to do more Salesforce work – it grew from there. Robin has recently moved from a 5-year stint as an independent consultant to working for Cognizant, a Salesforce global partner and much much more.

What are your biggest goals in your life/Career?

“I don’t really set goals. I get the biggest kick when I’m creating new ideas and finding unique solutions. I’ve always got many projects on the go and have many things I’m learning or solving. Keeps me happy.”

Which three technologies do you think will change business in the next decade?

“First is not so much a technology but the relentless growth of the mega corporates e.g. Apple and Amazon. They will drive many companies out of business as they out-compete them. Second is the open source community and people who think software should be free. They will create propositions that can undercut the commercial businesses. Finally, quantum computing will change the world.”

If you could do any job, what would it be?

“Ummmm, I wish I had got into engineering and could now help solve some of the worlds biggest issues.”
